The 2014 vision.
-
Increase the quality and length of the Forum by having accomplished speakers attend and adding an extra half day to the event
.
Sponsorship.
"Being part of the sponsorship team is no easy task and it requires a lot of dedication and hard work! It’s been a fantastic opportunity to improve networking skills and nurture an ability to sell a product that you believe in."
Sponsorship in our main source of funding. In order to maximise the potential of the forum we need as many sponsors as possible. It is the most valued part of our operations as without sponsorship there would simply be no forum.
-
Introduce other ventures such as regular newsletters and termly magazines to benefit our members further
-
Hold more high quality society events throughout the year, and introduce an official Speaker Series with a mini flagship event in Term 2
Speaker Series 2015
WEMS Speaker Series 2015 was successfully kicked started by Eric Golson on Putin Underesteimated: The Russian Economy isn’t Doomed on 19 January.
A very popular event indeed – Eric offered us a refreshingly different perspective view on a post-sanctions Russia. The audience was engaged fully in the debate evident by the numerous insightful questions from the floor.
A PDF file of Eric’s presentation is now available here.

EY Mock Assessment Centre
Date: 4 February
Group Discussion part of an EY Assessment Centre. Grab this great opportunity to attend an event where EY will hold a simulation of their actual interview process!
It will be a group exercise where you will get the opportunity to listen to presentations by other groups, give your own presentations, and learn from them and hear advice from EY representatives!

Good luck!

WEMF 2014
Last November WEMS had its biggest and most successful forum to date.
A full review of the forum will be posted on our site shortly and will feature in our next magazine issue.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people involved that made this event a great success, setting the bar very high for future forums.
We would specifically like to thank all the speakers who gave up their time to share their extensive knowledge with us.

Emerging economies.
Brazil
Russia
India
China
Despite continued political tensions, Russia remains a global powerhouse and one of the leading producers of oil & natural gas. However in recent years Russia growth has slowed partly due to ongoing international disputes.
India can rely on it’s enormous population (over 1.2 billion) and educated labour force (2nd largest in the world behind China, another BRIC) to provide exceptional IT and software services internationally.
The largest of the BRIC countries, both in terms of population size (over 1.35 billion) and nominal GDP (c. $13.4 trillion - more than Brazil, Russia and India combined), China is expected to overtake the US as the largest economy in the world by 2050.
In-addition to being one of the largest country’s in the world, with over 200 million inhabitants and a GDP of c. $2.5 trillion - the lowest of the BRIC countries, Brazil can attest to being one of the world’s fastest growing economies.
