An Introduction to the Warwick Emerging Markets Society
About WEMS:
Warwick Emerging Markets Society aims to provide a diverse platform encouraging the exchange of knowledge and ideas on the developing countries between professionals and students. Our goal is to educate, inform and interest our students about the changing global landscape. We have a focus on every aspect: politics, economics, law, development, social entrepreneurship and graduate opportunities to give our students a comprehensive view on the issue of emerging nations.
We do this through our annual flagship forum, which will be on the 7th and 8th of November this year, as well as through smaller events throughout the year to ensure our members are fully equipped to compete on a global scale. We arrange talks, CV skills sessions, workshops and lively panel debates, to encourage debate and discussion.
Three years ago, the students started an Emerging Markets Forum for the University of Warwick, which proved hugely successful thus far. Our aim is to expand the success of the society and reach more students so we have created a core list of initiatives outlined below, which lie in three fields:
Academic
-
Warwick Emerging Markets Forum
-
Speaker Series with a mini flagship event in Term 2
Social
-
An emerging markets themed Launch Party in week 3
-
Tour to an emerging country with an academic focus
Media and Publications
-
Termly Magazines
-
Bi-weekly Newsletter
By joining the society, you will not only increase your knowledge and academic curiosity of the emerging markets but also boost your employability as well as being able to meet some successful people in their respective industries!
