We are pleased to announce that Warwick Emerging Markets Society is now recruiting for the Exec for 2015-16!

POSITIONS:

 

CO-PRESIDENT (CO-COORDINATOR)

 

We are seeking two Co-Presidents to plan and implement the strategy for WEMS 2015-16. You would be responsible for the only truly multi-disciplinary society on campus. You would be leading a team of over 25 to accomplish your vision. You must be extremely committed to the role, have demonstrated leadership ability, be highly organized, and have the enthusiasm and personal skills to inspire a team. In addition, high levels of attention to detail, effective delegation and proven initiative are crucial. Through working closely with the other Coordinator and the team, you would be ultimately responsible for producing a successful Warwick Emerging Markets Forum 2015, the Speaker Series, and Emerging Times magazine.

 

TREASURER

 

The Treasurer manages the finances of the Society and will work with the Co-Presidents to make the activities of the Society are financially viable. You would be responsible for creating and handling the budget of WEMS, paying expenses and working closely with the Sponsorship and Logistics teams to set feasible targets and helping them achieve it. The ideal candidate would have experience managing a large budget and competent Excel skills. You would need to be highly organised and an excellent communicator.

 

HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS (SECRETARY)

 

Responsible for the internal and external communication for the Forum, the Head of Communications will assist the team with the administration of the Society. Duties will include arranging and taking minutes at meetings, coordinating the responsibilities of the individual teams, assembling the bi-weekly newsletter, and recruitment. Such a role involves knowing all activities of the Society. The ideal candidate should be extremely well organised, motivated and possess excellent communication skills.

 

HEAD AND DEPUTY OF TALKS

 

You would be responsible for attracting a range of exceptional speakers to discuss a diverse selection of stimulating topics on the emerging markets – it is the Society’s philosophy that we maintain a healthy balance among many disciplines. You would lead a team to contact potential speakers from leading institutions and governmental organisations. This role requires high levels of initiative, excellent communication skills and the ability to network and think innovatively in order to attract exceptional speakers.

 

HEAD AND DEPUTY OF INTERNAL MARKETING

 

As Head of Internal Marketing, you would lead your team to establish an effective and creative marketing campaign on campus, raising vital awareness for our event. We are looking for a dedicated individual who possesses strong leadership skills and exhibits excellent levels of organisation. Having an eye for aesthetics would be an advantage, but at the same time understanding traditional campus marketing and being able to execute the strategy is just as important. We are looking for outgoing individuals willing to devote time and effort to the demanding position.

 

HEAD OF EXTERNAL MARKETING

 

As Head of External Marketing, you would be responsible for marketing the Warwick Emerging Markets Forum to students outside of the University of Warwick. You would need to raise awareness amongst other universities and organisations, be that through other societies or else, as well as ensuring that any individuals who do attend the Forum from outside of Warwick are adequately attended to. This involves maintaining our healthy relationships with our counterparts at LSE and Nottingham. We are looking for individuals with good networking skills and initiative.

 

HEAD AND DEPUTY OF LOGISTICS

 

You would responsible for the practicalities of planning and ensuring the smooth running of the Forum – everything you can see physically at the Forum is your responsibility. The event preparations are complex and hence the role requires great attention to detail and organisational skills. You would be required to exhibit strong leadership skills and initiative. Excellent interpersonal skills are also required for coordinating and liaising with different teams and external parties.

 

HEAD AND DEPUTY OF SPONSORSHIP

 

You would be responsible for attracting a diverse range of leading institutions to sponsor the Society and maintaining communication with them. The ideal candidate will have exceptional commercial sense, networking skills, the ability to be persuasive in order to demonstrate the benefits of a partnership between ourselves and potential sponsors. The candidate must understand a sponsor is spending money on society expecting concrete returns, more than just basic marketing and good will. The team encompasses all sponsor related responsibilities from communications to organising sponsor events. We are looking for highly organised individuals who would be willing to take initiative and responsibility.

 

HEAD AND DEPUTY OF EVENTS

 

You would be responsible for putting together all the events that the Society holds in addition to the Forum. You would work closely with the Talks and Marketing members to ensure stimulating and beneficial events are hosted ranging our Speaker Series, and Panel Debate. This role could also involve the oversight of the Society tour in Easter. The role requires initiatives, creativity, and excellent organisation.

 

HEAD OF IT

 

As Head of IT, you would be required to maintain a professional website for WEMS, implement a team email system and assist with any technical aspects of the Society. Previous experience in web design is required; you should be technically skilled and demonstrate high levels of creativity, initiative and organisation.

 

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

 

Working closely with most of the teams on the exec, in particular, the Head of IT and marketing team. You would be responsible for maintaining the professional appearance of the Society magazine, the Society website, printed materials, and design work related to social media. The role requires maintaining a coherent theme across all WEMS media and design. We are looking for someone creative with the ability to be forthcoming with ideas. You also need to be a strong team player to collaborate with the different teams ensuring aesthetic consistency. Photoshop experience is a must. We will also want to see examples of previous work.

 

EDITOR AND HEAD WRITER

 

As Editor, you would be responsible for the creation and publication of our termly magazine - the Emerging Times. You would need to have a clear plan in your publication and work to tight deadlines with a team of writers. You would also be responsible for aesthetics and layout of the magazine and will therefore work closely with the Creative Director. Past experience in writing is a must. Any past experience in an editorial capacity and in digital layout and photoshop is desirable, but by no means necessary.

 

The Head Writer will contribute substantially to the magazine. This might be through writing articles for each issue as well as an article on the Forum, giving advice to budding writers, editing submitted articles and generally helping the Editor with any magazine issues.
